It is difficult to summarize one’s faith in the true God with infinite understanding and the
glorious Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, in whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and
knowledge (Psalm 147:5; Colossians 2:2-3). This will be a brief summary of some salient aspects
of our faith.
The Bible
The written source for our faith is the Bible. Most statements of faith rightly begin with the
Bible, but most definitions of said Bible are confusing and misleading. The word of God, the
scriptures, or the Bible is a collection of books and epistles that one can have in one’s possession
(2 Timothy 3:15-17). Unfortunately there are many who claim to believe the scriptures, but they
do not hold to its eternal preservation (Psalm 12:6-7; Romans 1:18, 25; 2 Corinthians 2:17).
Inspiration without preservation is pointless (Jeremiah 36). These apostates claim to believe in
the unavailable and unseen original manuscripts, but they hold people in bondage to their opinion
of said manuscripts as the Nicolaitans (Jeremiah 23:36; Revelation 2:6, 15). The King James
Bible is the paper and ink word of God and its English words are the final authority for all
matters of faith and practice.
God
There is one true God and many counterfeits (1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 John 5:20). This God is
eternal and is personified within the Godhead (Romans 1:20; Colossians 2:9; 1 John 5:7). God is
personally interested in developing a friendship with each and every man, woman, and child.
God is the only who initiates the opportunity for fellowship, but God will not force His will upon
anyone (1 Timothy 2:3-6).
Jesus Christ
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world, especially those that believe (1 Timothy 4:10).
The Lord Jesus is eternally God (Hebrews 1:8-9) and He became flesh through the virgin birth
(Isaiah 7:14; Luke 1:35). Jesus lived a sinless life and gave the ultimate sacrifice at Calvary, He
was crucified, buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). After His
resurrection Jesus Christ bodily ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of the Father
(Luke 20:42; Acts 1:9-11; 7:55; Ephesians 1:20; Hebrews 1:3). The Lord Jesus is the flesh and
blood (bones) Word of God (John 1:1, 14; 1 John 5:7).
Holy Ghost
The Holy Ghost indwells the body of the born again believer and is the earnest of the believer’s
inheritance (Ephesians 1:12-14). The Holy Ghost will bear witness to the spirit of the believer
and is the teacher and guide into all truth (John 16:13-14; Romans 8:16). A counterfeit spirit of
the Holy Ghost will subtly mislead one to focus upon certain spiritual gifts to draw attention to
the flesh (2 Corinthians 11:4, 13-15).
Salvation
It is God’s perfect will for all to be saved and come unto the full understanding of the truth
(Ephesians 1:16-18; 1 Timothy 2:3-6). The gift of eternal life is offered to all, but those who
believe the Gospel of Christ Jesus receive the benefits (John 3:3-8; Romans 5:15-19). The new
birth was introduced by the Lord Jesus to Nicodemus who did not understand the prophecy byDavid in the crucifixion psalm (Psalm 22:30-31). A born again believer cannot get unborn again
(Ephesians 4:30; Philippians 1:6), but said believer can lose an inheritance and rewards
(Galatians 5:19-21; Colossians 3:23-25; 2 Thessalonians 1:3-12; 2 Timothy 2:11-13).
Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth
The first line of defense against deception is to never add, change, or subtract a word or words to
the scripture (Genesis 3:1-6; 1 Timothy 2:13-15). The second line of defense against deception
is by rightly dividing the word of truth (Luke 4:1-21; 2 Timothy 2:15). All of the Bible can be
taught regarding devotional, instructional, and spiritual material, but doctrine must be rightly
divided according to the seven covenants (Eden, Adamic, Noahic, Abrahamic, Mosaic, Davidic,
and the new covenant (Hebrews 8:8-13). The three groups of recipients of the Bible are the
Jews, the Gentiles, and the church of God (1 Corinthians 10:32). One needs to discern the
differences for each. All of the Bible is to be believed, but the words need to be doctrinally
applied correctly (2 Corinthians 4:1-2). All of the Bible is written FOR the reader, but certain
portions of the Bible are written TO said reader. The standard for doctrine for the church is the
writings of the Apostle Paul (Romans 16:25-27; Ephesians 3:1-7), but Paul advises to study ALL
of the Bible (Romans 15:4; 1 Corinthians 10:11; 1 Timothy 6:3). The Apostle Peter also
encourages to read the epistles of Paul (2 Peter 3:15-16). The vital attitudes to rightly understand
the holy words of God are honesty, humility, meekness, sincerity, and willingness (John 7:14-17;
Acts 4:13; 1 Corinthians 2:9-16; 2 Corinthians 1:12; 4:1-2; James 3:13-18). Science is another
source to aid in the verification of truth (Daniel 1:4), but pseudoscience is clearly a counterfeit
and enemy of the truth (1 Timothy 6:20-21).
